SCRAPBOOKING PENS

Do creations from scrapbooking pens facinate you?  Do you wonder how scrapbooking professionals produce eye-catching journals and titles? Well, need not to be because you yourself can do it. Just know which scrapbooking pens are appropriate to use. The following will tell you everything you need to know about scrapbooking pens.

ACID-FREE, LIGNIN-FREE AND ARCHIVAL PEN

These pens do not contain harmful alcohol-based chemicals that will lighten and disappear right away. Acid-free pens resist fading over time and do not smear.

The following are the types of acid-free scrapbooking pens:

  • Felt-tip pen / Marker Pen – a pen that has its own ink-source and a tip made up of a porous material such as felt or nylon. Felt tip pen / marker pen can be used for writing titles, journals, etc. Tip styles are as follows:

oFine tip pen – has a very small tip which is usually measured in millimeters (ranges from .005mm to .08mm). This is great for outlining, adding details and doing your scrapbooking journals.

oDouble-tipped point pen – has a very fine tip on one end and a bullet tip on the other part. You can use this in writing titles in order to illustrate the color better.

oCalligraphy pen – creates grand-looking titles and captions. Its tip is flat and broad that can produce letters that are beautiful and ribbonlike when held at a 45-degree angle. This gives elegance to your scrapbook.

  • Gel pen – can be used to create doodles. This pen comes in variety of colors with glitters which is typically being written on black platform to make your work very captivating.

TIPS ON STORING SCRAPBOOKING PENS

If you want to use storage drawers in organizing your scrapbooking pens, be reminded to place it horizontally so that the ink will be distributed evenly. However, if you are on a tight budget, just simply look for an old shoe box in your storage room and place it in the same manner.

You may also use a pen cup that has compartments which can be bought from any office supply store and simply lay your scrapbooking pens on its side to have easy and accessible storage. This can also be substituted by tin cans, plastic pencil cases, make-up organizers and/or clear acrylic boxes.

Organizing your pens by color provides ease in finding complimentary colors and in scrapbooking; color is known to be the key in layout design. You may sort out colors in this order: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Purple, Naturals/White and Grey/Black. You may also organize it according to its thickness and type.

Scrapbooking on a Budget

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

It’s easy to spend hundreds, if not thousands, on your scrapbook layouts.  However, there are several ways that you can start scrapbooking on a budget today.Regular household items can be used, including things that you normally would throw out. Below you will find a handful of ideas that will not only help save you money, but will prevent useful items from ending up in the garbage.

1. Empty Food Boxes

If you have a die cut machine capable of cutting chipboard, such as the Cricut Expression, don’t buy expensive chipboard at the craft store.  Instead, use food containers, such as cereal boxes.  Once you embellish them with colorful paper, no one will ever know it came from your cupboard!  If you do not have a die cut machine, you can use cookie cutters instead, to cut the box and paper into the desired shapes.

2.  Wallpaper Scraps

Many wallpaper designs are as beautiful as the pricey papers in the scrapbooking stores.  Make regular stops at your local paint and wallcovering stores, get to know the staff, and ask them to call you when they have discontinued sample books that they are throwing away.  Keep in mind, however, that the adhesive on these samples may not be acid-free.  Although they may not be suitable for your pictures, they can be used for other projects, such as making cards.

3.  Wrapping Paper

Think of all the beautiful wrapping paper you have thrown out over the years.  Recycle it by using it for your scrapbook projects.  At birthday parties and other special occasions, collect the left over wrapping paper and use it for your projects..

4.  Fabric and Ribbon Scraps

If sewing is another one of your hobbies, you already know that fabric and ribbon scraps are the perfect complement to your paper crafting projects.  Many of these fabric and ribbon scraps are too small for sewing, yet are the perfect size for accenting handmade cards and more.If you have any friends that like to sew, ask them to save their leftover ribbon pieces and fabric remnants.

5.  School Supplies

Many of the products in the scrapbooking aisle are simply embellished school supplies.  School supplies cost far less, though, and can be easily modified for scrapbook projects.Instead of buying expensive scrapbooking brads, purchase paper fasteners instead. You can paint them with acrylics, glue on embellishments, and jazz them up in a number of ways.

With a little imagination and creative thinking, you will surely find even more common household goods that you can use for scrapbooking on a budget.  Make sure you always have a container handy, so when you come across things you can use for your projects, you have a place to put them.

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Im 14 and wanna make a scrapbook for my bestfriend for her birthday. I have made scrapbooks for family members

I have no clue what to put in this scrapbook any ideas?
do you no any good websites?
thank you so much<333

A pre-made scrapbook kit might be the best thing for you. SEI makes some cute 8in by 8 in kits "Scrapbook in a Bag". In the kit, the papers are already cut to the right size and it comes with cute stickers and ribbons, etc. to match. All you need is scissors, glue and pictures.

I helped a 10 year old make her first scrapbook using "Aunt Gerti" scrapbook in a bag – and it turned out really cute.
