Scrapbook Paper

Of all the scrapbooking materials you can not get started with scrapbooking if they don’t own is a memory book. There are blank memory books which you can find in your craft stores. Then you can use those to get you going.

You can also start with pieces of specialised papers, recycled ones, colored papers, art papers or construction papers that you can compile. Many scrapbookers do this because they do not want to make all the pages alike. After that you can create a title page and then you can stitch the pages and the cover in succession.

Scissors

It is not possible to make a memory book without a good old scissors in your box of scrapbook materials. Some scissors are perhaps the most simple of your tools since this is the one which you will be using in cutting images and shapes and putting designs on the pages itself.

Also you can purchase scissors that cut designed lines and not only your usual straight lines. Very similar to the pinking shears used in sewing, these specialised scissors can be real handy when cutting graphics and decorations for your pages.

Not all cuttings can be executed with scissors. Sometimes, you need a cutter to make your job less difficult.

While using a cutter, ensure that you have a cutting board beneath to stop from cutting papers underneath or even worse, putting scratches on the top of the dining table. In addition to the cushion, cutting boards also provide guide lines which may aid you in cutting paper in a line that does not curve.

Having this ability saves you a lot of work in sketching and using the ruler simply to be able to cut it unswerving. Cutting boards also include some way to measure which will aid you when you want to cut paper at a certain length. It follows that a cutting board is one of the essential scrapbooking materials you will want to have.

The most important part of the whole album will be the pictures which you already have.

You can find many pre-made scrapbook pages at a scrapbook store. If you do not have one located close to you, you can always find scrapbook supplies at your local Hobby Lobby or Michael’s Craft Store. Scrapbooking Theme Books with a Vellum Paper Twist

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Scrapbooking theme books make great presents and are easy to put together. My friend, Celine, put this theme book together in a matter of hours! Her daughter has the cutest little kitten that she just cherishes. First Celine got together all the pictures of the kitten that she could find. Then, she sorted through all the pictures and placed them in a way that told a story and followed all of the cat's adventures. Celine then used vellum paper in her printer and text templates from the internet to make the cat’s funny sayings for each page. I didn't know cats could talk!!!! How wonderful and Funny!!

Finally, Celine decided on a common color scheme for the album and used these same colors on every page. Using scrapbook page templates to arrange the pictures, she pasted together the background. The she worked in a few mats to the pictures, added the neat little text boxes and a few key embellishments and it was done! The book was complete. Her daughter loved the album so much that Celine's next project is an album for her daughter's new puppy!!! Celine has already been shopping around for the perfect embellishments that will surely make this new dog album a favorite keepsake.

Some things to remember for theme books:

1)  Always sort through the pictures first and put them in chronological order.

2)  Use a common color theme throughout the album to create continuity.

3)  Keep the pages simple and add embellishments and journaling to add interest.

4)  Be sure to add humour to your pages.

5)  Add dates and facts (who, what, where, when) so that the album has historical features.

Enjoy yourself! Don't get caught up in what you should do, be creative, do what you think is neat and fun.

Theme books are great scrapbooking ideas because they can be started and finished all in one weekend or they can be labeled and added to over time as new pictures are taken. The best thing about theme books is that once you have a theme in mind, you’ll find all kinds of embellishments at home or at the stores that will accent your scrapbook perfectly!
